Ingredients

  • 2 cups smoked ham (diced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (diced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • oregano (optional)
  • 1 large carrot (diced)
  • 1 stalk celery (diced)
  • 1 lb. kale (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 cup cannellini white beans (rinsed and drained)
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  • The first step is to cut in small pieces the smoked ham, carrots, and celery. I also added a small spicy habanero pepper (this is optional), I like some heat in my soup:)
  • Make sure to remove the stems from the kale. for the garlic I did mashed but you can just mince it or just use whole
  • Proceed to cook the smoked ham on the stove on a medium high temperature for about 5 to 10 minutes. I don't add oil, the smoked ham has natural fat which I think its enough
  • Add the vegetables, the beans and add 2 cups of water. Let it come to a boil and add the kale. Seasoned with salt and pepper. I also added some oregano(optional)
  • Cover and let it simmer over medium-low heat for about 20 to 30 minutes.
