The first step is to add the chicken drumsticks to the slow cooker. I decided to remove the skin of the chicken, but you can definitely keep it if you prefer.
Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or any other spices of your preference. Whatever you use, make sure it complements your sauce choice. I kept mine simple. Give those chicken legs a good seasoning massage. Make sure all the drumsticks are coated with seasoning.
Then, add your preferred BBQ sauce. I use a whole bottle (18 oz.) and continue incorporating it until all the chicken is covered with the BBQ sauce. I prefer something that’s both sweet and spicy, like Sweet Baby Ray’s Sweet’n Spicy BBQ Sauce.
Next, add unsalted butter to the top and set the crock pot to the desired temperature. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 8-9 hours, depending on the slow cooker, and trust the process. I assure you that you will not be disappointed. So simple—toss and go!
