This Chayote recipe is a favorite in my household. It pairs perfectly with fluffy white rice making it simply satisfying! Ingredients you” ll need :

  • 3 to 4 chayotes peel and dice
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons of my Sofrito with Chipotle Peppers
  • Jalapeno Peppers optional or any other pepper of your preference.

Instructions

How to make Chayote In Chipotle Tomato Sauce:

  • Peel the chayote ( read my tips on how to peel them). Next, place in a pot with enough water
  • Cook on the stove over medium-high heat for about 20 minutes or until soft. Then, mash the chayote to your desired texture.
  • Add one or two tablespoons of the chipotle seasoning, a few jalapeno slices (optional), tomato sauce, and salt to taste. I also added an extra 1/2 teaspoon of oil (optional).
