  • 2 cups white rice medium grain

Instructions

  • The first step is to rinse the rice. I use the same pot I will cook the rice in.
*see notes to know the reasons why I rinse my rice before cooking
  • Once the rice has been rinsed and drained, add the water that you will use for boiling.
  • Add some salt and oil and stir to combine. Place on the stove on a high heat temperature until it starts to boil.
  • As soon as it starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom causing it to burn.
  • Let the rice simmer in water until all of it is completely absorbed. Cover and reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15 minutes or until grains are soft and tender.
  • After the 15 minutes, your rice is done!

Notes

Why Do I need to rinse my rice?

  • I like to rinse it to get rid off any dirt or debris.
  • Another reason I like to rinse the rice is because it reduces the amount of starch in the rice that can stick to it when it's cooking, giving the rice a gooey texture.
