Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs

This Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs is one of those chicken dinners you’ll be forgiven for cooking more than once a week. The chicken is juicy, and the skin comes out crispy and sticky at the same time.

Ingredients

  • 4-6 chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon oil I use avocado oil
  • A pinch of salt & black pepper

To make Honey Garlic Glaze:

  • 4 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/3 cup of honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
  • crush red pepper optional

Instructions

How to make Honey Garlic Glazed Chicken:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (176.6°C).
  • The first step is to use a paper towel to pat dry the chicken, drizzle with oil, season the chicken with salt and pepper, and set aside. There is no need to use lots of salt, as we are using soy sauce to make the glaze.
  • Place an oven-safe skillet on the stovetop and heat it over medium-high heat until it gets really hot. Add the chicken thighs and sear them on both sides. Doing this will ensure that the chicken is both crispy and juicy.
  • Then, transfer the skillet into the oven and let the chicken cook for about 20 minutes. However, the exact cooking time can vary depending on factors like the size of the chicken thighs, your oven’s accuracy, and whether the chicken is bone-in or boneless. In the meantime, let’s prepare the sauce.

Honey Garlic Glaze:

  • In a small saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce, 1/3 cup of honey or maple syrup, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, ½ teaspoon light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon lemon zest, and 1 teaspoon ginger. Cook on the stove at the lowest temperature for about 8–10 minutes, or until the sauce reduces in thickness.
  • Next, take the chicken out of the oven. Then, pour the glaze over the chicken and set the oven to broil at the highest temperature. Continue to cook until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly (about 3–4 minutes). Or you can finish this step on the stove if you prefer.
  • After that, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
