  • Mint to garnish

Instructions

How to Make Creamy Strawberry Agua Fresca

  • The first step is to clean the strawberries: Wash the strawberries under running cold water. I like to add baking soda first and rinse them many times. Adding baking soda and even white vinegar will help remove the pesticide from the fruit. When washing strawberries, I find it helpful to use a salad spinner. The strainer part can be pulled up, making the washing process easier.
  • Next, hull the strawberries. Pull back the leaves of the fruits to show the stem, and then using a pairing knife cut around it to remove the green leafy top.
  • Dice the strawberries and reserve about 1/2 cup to use as garnish.
  • Place the strawberries in a blender along with 3 cups of water. Blend for 1-2 minutes at high speed, or until the strawberries are pureed.
  • Strain the strawberry mixture. Straining the strawberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds or pulp will result in a smooth and clear agua fresca.
  • Then, combine the strawberry mixture with the evaporated milk, and condensed milk. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Add the reserved strawberries and get your glasses ready to enjoy a delicious creamy drink. Serve with lots of ice.
  • Finally, for a burst of color and flavor, add some fresh mint to the drink before serving.

Notes

    • When selecting strawberries for your drink, look for bright red ones that are plump and fragrant. Using high-quality ingredients is important, as the flavor and sweetness of the strawberries will have an impact on the overall taste of the drink.
    • If you’re using frozen strawberries, there’s no need to thaw them beforehand. Simply blend them a little longer with the water. When using frozen strawberries, you might not need to use too much ice.
    • To ensure that your strawberries are clean, rinse them under cold water or soak them for a few minutes before patting them dry with a paper towel.
For the best taste, I recommended putting ice directly into the glass rather than the pitcher. Also, to improve the flavor and appearance of the drink, fresh sliced strawberries can be added just before serving.
    • This strawberry drink can be refrigerated for a maximum of three days, but it is best to drink it within 24-48 hours for the best taste and freshness.
