This taco meat is made with fresh ingredients. No taco seasonings(packages) were used. The meat is cooked with fresh garlic, oregano, onion, red, yellow, orange, green peppers, cilantro, and for the spicy kick, jalapenos peppers. The meat is moist, juicy, and flavorful.
This recipe is perfect for birthday parties, family reunions, movie nights, or any other gatherings. It is so easy to make, and all you have to do after making the meat is put it on the table aside with your favorite toppings and let everyone custom their taco.
What’s the best meat to use to make this fantastic taco meat?
I like to use meat that has some fat. The ideal meat I like to use is ground beef of 70-80% lean and 20-30% fat. The fat gives the meat great flavors and keeps the meat moist. You can also use ground turkey for this recipe.
How to make the taco meat ( ground beef ) filling:
Step 1: Season the ground beef with garlic, salt, and black pepper. I like to combine these ingredients with a mortar & pestle to intensify flavors.
Step 2: In a skillet over medium, high heat, add olive oil, then add the already seasoned ground beef. If you prefer, remove some of the fat. I like to keep it as the vegetables will absorb all of it. Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the meat starts to brown.
Step 3: Proceed to add the vegetables.
Step 4: Add some taco salsa and some tomato sauce and stir to combine. Continue cooking over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes.
Step 5: Simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce has thickened and all the vegetables are cooked.
Now it is time to assemble the Tacos:
I like to use hard taco shells, but you can use soft tacos, taco bowls, or tortillas. First, add the meat into the taco shell and add your favorite toppings. For me, the red and white cabbage, some tomatoes, and extra jalapenos make my day. There are a few sauces I recommend to have with this delicious taco meat:
- Old El Paso Taco Salsa
- Chipotle peppers in Adobo Sauce
- Cholula Hot Sauce
My favorite topping ingredients:
I like to have a platter with shredded white and red cabbage, my family’s favorite. I also add tomatoes, romaine lettuce, lime, and a few slices of jalapenos for extra heat.
This is perfect taco filling, but it also tastes fantastic over fluffy white rice. I like to add some minced carrots to the meat if I know I will serve over rice. This is optional, but it tastes so good!
These ground beef tacos come together in just minutes. This is one of my favorite recipes to make when I have a lot of people over or when I’m struggling with finding something to cook for dinner. They are delicious and fun to make. Even kids will have fun putting together their tacos. This recipe couldn’t be any easier.
This Taco Meat is very hard to resist!
