Smoked Ham, Kale and Bean Soup

Smoked Ham, Kale White Bean Soup

A quick and healthy satisfying lunch choice

Another rainy day here in Connecticut and for me that calls for a bowl of soup, A Smoked Ham, Kale, and Bean Soup. During this time of year, I love to make soups. Like this Butternut Squash Soup, which by the way it tastes amazing:) or this Homemade Tomato Soup, which is my son Justin’s favorite. Also one of my favorites, the Beef Soup Caribbean Style, as you can see I like soups and there’s more to come!

I like this Smoked Ham, Kale, and Bean Soup so much not only because of how easy it’s to put together but because it’s healthy, clean and flavorful. The Smoked Ham harmonizes so well with the beans and the kale.

You can substitute the smoked ham for chorizo, smoked pork chops or spicy sausages. You can also make this with red beans. I tried all those versions and they are great too:)

Like this one, which has Red Beans and Smoked Pork Chops. It tastes so good and with a piece of avocado it’s amazing

These are the ingredients needed for this Smoked Ham, Kale, and Bean Soup

https://asimpletweak.com/beef-soup-sopa-de-carne-de-res-spanish-style/

  • The first step is to cut the smoked ham, carrots, and celery into small pieces. I also added a small spicy habanero pepper (this is optional), I like some heat in my soup
  • Make sure to remove the stems from the kale. I mashed the garlic but you can mince it or just use it as whole

Steps to make Smoked Ham Kale Soup

  • Proceed to cook the smoked ham on the stove on a medium high temperature for about 5 to 10 minutes. I don’t add oil, the smoked ham has natural fat which I think is enough
  • Add the vegetables, the beans and 2 cups of water. Let it come to a boil and add the kale. Season with salt and pepper. I also added some oregano(optional)
  • Cover and let it simmer over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes.

It’s that simple!
