What are Tomatillos?

Tomatillos are available throughout the year, mostly in Latin American markets. Tomatillos, commonly known as Mexican green tomatoes, are covered in a thin, papery husk and coated in a sticky residue. Tomatillos

This fruit works well in salsas, such as this EASY AVOCADO TOMATILLO SALSA or this SIMPLE TOMATILLO SALSA VERDE that dresses up this Shrimp Fajita Recipe very well. This salsa has a fresh acidic tart flavor thanks to the raw tomatillos. If you wish to neutralize the acidity, roasting or grilling them whole before preparing the sauce is the way to go.

HOW to MAKE THIS SIMPLE TOMATILLO SALSA VERDE

The first step is to prepare the tomatillos. For this,
remove the husk and discard it. A sticky coating will appear on the surface, which can be removed with a brief rinse under warm water.
