The fillets are seasoned with garlic, salt, and pepper and then topped with unsalted butter to give a nice golden color. Wait, It doesn’t end there:). This fish is topped with peppers and onions simmered in tomato sauce that gives it a whoa factor. You could easily pair this Tilapia with some white rice or with rice and beans.

How to make these Tilapia fillets:

The first step to make this baked tilapias fillet is to place them in a baking pan and season them with garlic, salt, and black pepper. I always like to use fresh garlic, but powdered garlic will work as well. Proceed to add olive oil and half of lemon juice. I use the other half of the lemon I cut into slices and add it to the baking pan. I also add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter to obtain the beautiful golden color. (optional)

Baked them at 425 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. While the fillets are baking, proceed to prepare the sauce.

By the time your tilapia is ready, you will be done with the sauce.

How to make the sauce:

First, dice all the veggies. I used tomatoes, red onions, red and green peppers, and some cilantro.

Once you finish dicing the veggies, add some oil to a saucepan. Set the pan over high-medium heat and add all the veggies. Season with salt and pepper and saute for 3-5 minutes.

Add the tomato sauce and water. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the sauce has thickened.

Serve the tilapia and add the sauce on top. I love how flaky and moist the tilapia fillets turn out, and in combination with the crispy peppers, this recipe is a winner.

It’s a fuss-free meal.

For this recipe, I used frozen Tilapia; I usually buy them at Aldis. They have a family package individually wrapped, which is very convenient.
