Chili the perfect Recipe for the super bowl!
I have to tell you, I’ve been so happy making this recipe. I’ve been eating chili for days and to be honest, I’m not tired of it. For a couple of days now I haven’t had to think of what to eat. I just grab my bowl of hot chili, add some sour cream, cheese, avocado, and Yum! I will definitely recommend this chili as a dish to serve during the Super Bowl party. Just grab a serving and game on!
These are the ingredients you’ll need to make this chili:
-
- Ground beef
- Black beans
- Lentils
- Red beans
- Butternut squash
- Garlic
- Chili powder
- Cumin
- Black pepper
- Salt
- Onions
- Green pepper
- Red peppers
- Jalapenos
How to make this chili recipe:
Step #1: Dice the carrots, garlic, onion, jalapeno, celery, butternut squash, green and red peppers. Another important first step is to put the lentils in water for a few minutes if you are using uncooked. make sure to remove all excess water before adding to the chili. This step is not necessary if using lentils from a can.
Step #2: Then, add oil into a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and let it cook for about a minute
Step#3: Move the meat to the side of the pot and add garlic to cook it for a minute. Then, add onions and spices.
Step #4: Make sure to stir and combine all those ingredients into the ground beef. Stir until the meat is completely brown.
Step #5: Next, add peppers, celery, jalapeno and stir to combine.
Step#6: Then, add beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce and keep stirring to prevent the meat from sticking to the bottom. This will create layers of flavor in the dish.
Step #7: Now add the carrots and lentils and keep stirring. You can definitely add the ingredients all at once, but I like to add them one at a time so that each ingredient could absorb the flavor
Step #8: Next, add water and a bay leaf. Wait until it comes to a boil and then add the butternut squash.
Step #9: Cover the pot and let it cook for about 30 to 40 minutes over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally. if the mixture starts to dry off add water as needed. Then, with a fork check for doneness of the butternut squash. Remove the bay leaf.
Step#10: Now its time to turn off the stove and let the chili rest for about 10 minutes before serving!
