Healthy Blueberry Strawberry Smoothie
Lately, I have been paying a little bit more attention to what I eat for breakfast. It has been a routine for me to skip breakfast, but I started noticing my energy level decreased. There are many great breakfast choices like scrambled eggs, pancakes, and oatmeal, but when I have a lot to do and places to go to, and it’s either I skip breakfast, or I choose the worse options for myself because of the lack of time.
I’m determined to change and give my body the nutrients needed to start my day off right. I understand that skipping meals, especially breakfast, can affect your body weight, cholesterol levels and even have a higher risk of a heart attack.
If you are like me and you tend to skip breakfast, I invite you to make a simple tweak to your mornings.
One of the most significant benefits I noticed after changing my habits of skipping breakfast is that it has helped me reduce hunger, and because I’m not in starvation mode, it helps me make better choices throughout the day. One of those good choices is this Healthy Blueberry Smoothie Recipe. It’s so filling that I feel satisfied for hours. Made with fresh fruits, especially if they are in season, but frozen fruits work as well, especially if your time is minimal. To make this blueberry strawberry smoothie, I use half of a banana.
Do you know why bananas are great when making smoothies?
Bananas add a rich, creamy texture to smoothies, and it also adds a natural sweetness to it, which is perfect when you want to reduce processed sugar from your diet. But if bananas are not your thing or you are allergic to them, another alternative to obtain the creamy texture in your smoothie is to substitute the banana with oatmeal. Just make sure to grind the oats for a few seconds before adding the rest of the ingredients to the blender.
Making this delicious smoothie is as simple as placing all ingredients in the blender, add some ice if the fruits are not frozen, and blend away!
Give this delicious Healthy Blueberry Strawberry Smoothie a try :). It is so refreshing!
