Dinner-Rolls

Deliciously Soft Dinner Rolls.

I used to think making dinner rolls was complicated and elaborate to make. It was easier for me to just take a trip to the store and get one of those dinner rolls packages. However, there is no comparison with the satisfaction of making your own dinner rolls at home.

I have to say, the aroma in the house when baking these Deliciously Soft Dinner Rolls is incredibly pleasant. The satisfaction of knowing that you are making these little pieces of heaven for you and your family. Having the certainty that there’s no preservatives or anything with a strange weird name in those ingredients you use. Just that alone gives me a forever smile 😀.

Wait? Does making dinner rolls requires to use a Stand mixer in order to knead the dough? The answer is No.

I’m not going to lie, it will make things a little bit easier if you do have a Stand Mixer, but just because you don’t have one on hand right now, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy these homemade rolls. On a positive note, look at it this way. Today you can skip your arms workout as we are going to knead the dough by hand. Trust me is not as bad as it sounds. I will show you a very easy process to make this step as smooth as possible. After a few strokes of strength, you will not regret the effort. They came out soft and fluffy!

Ingredients you’ll need:

To make these dinner rolls you’ll need 6 simple ingredients that you already might have at hands such as whole milk, unsalted butter, all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and active yeast. The only special ingredient you’ll need is the active yeast. This is an essential ingredient so skipping it is not a choice. The good news is that it is so easy to find. You can find it in small pockets or if you are like me and love baking it will be better to get a …..container and have it in your pantry for future use.

Ok, my friends😀 ready? Let’s cook!

How to make Dinner Rolls:

The first part of making dinner rolls and definitely the most essential is the science part of the dough The yeast. Wait, don’t get intimidated, is very simple. Let’s start with that.

In a mixing bowl add 1 ½ cup of hot milk. The milk is what activates the yeast and it’s important for the milk to have a temperature of 100-110°F (36.5 to 40.5 C).

Whole-milk

Add 1 tablespoon of white sugar, and whisk to combine. Let it rest for 1 minute. Then, add 1 tablespoon of active yeast, whisk to combine, and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes or until a foam appears on the surface.

Add and whisk 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter (melted), 1 ¼ teaspoon of salt, and the rest of the sugar.

Next, add the all-purpose flour ½  cup at a time ( a total of 4 cups minus a couple of tablespoons save for later. ). This will make the process of kneading the dough much easier. If you have a stand mixer, don’t hesitate on using it. I wanted to give an alternative for those of you that do not have a stand mixer at hand at this moment, not to miss out on enjoying this amazing recipe.

Just getting to the last cup of flour the dough will get a little bit harder to mix. Switch to a very strong spatula or use your hands to continue mixing the dough in the bowl. If the dough sticks to your finger, continue adding the rest of the flour little by little as needed.

Add flour (1 teaspoon) to a clean countertop surface and transfer the dough. Use your hands to form a ball.
