How to make these Apple treats:

The first step is to preheat the oven to 350ยฐF and line 2 baking trays with baking mats or parchment baking paper.

To make this recipe I use store-bought puff pastry sheets. There is nothing quite like the ease of using a package of puff pastry to create a flaky dessert in just minutes. so the next step is to set the puff pastry on the counter to thaw while you prepare the cinnamon sugar mixture. In a bowl, mix the sugar and ground cinnamon. Stir to combine and set aside.

Next, un-roll the puff pastry sheets, and using a pizza cutter or knife, cut out strips of the pastry until approximately 1/2 inch thick, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Set the pastry aside.

Now is time to prepare the apples:

Wash the apples then cut each apple into thick slices. Use the end of a piping tip or apple corer to cut out a circle in the middle. Coat the apple slices shape in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Then, Wrap the pastry strips around each apple slice until the apple is covered. Do this by wrapping the dough around the apple slice, passing through the center as many times as needed to cover the apple. I used two strips of dough for each slice. I don’t like wasting, so I decided to use the leftover dough. I shaped it with a cookie cutter. Then, I brushed the tops with egg wash or milk and placed the pastries on a lined baking tray. As the pastry puffed up, I made sure there was enough space for them to spread out on the trays.

Bake in the middle of the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed up, flaky, and golden brown. After baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the tray. Then, use a spatula to transfer them onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once they are cool and ready to eat, serve with a drizzle of homemade caramel sauce.
