Apple Cider Bundt Cake
There’s nothing more delicious or comforting than homemade apple desserts. Today’s recipe is just that. It’s like a giant donut filled with warm fall spices and covered in a buttery, cinnamon sugar topping. This cake is the perfect way to celebrate the fall baking season.
What sets this cake apart from the rest is the star ingredient, my Homemade apple cider. It brings a distinct, rich flavor typical of the fall season, and the aroma in the house is a nice bonus. So make your own homemade cider and make this amazing cake. I promise you will not be disappointed.
That being said, if you have no time to make your own apple cider, I recommend using a good-quality Apple cider (affiliate link).
Ingredients: This spiced Bundt Cake is made with simple ingredients:
All-Purpose Flour: Using all-purpose flour will result in a delicate and soft crumb on your bundt cake.
Applesauce & Apple Cider: Pack the cake with apple flavors and keep it super moist. Apple cider is used three times in this recipe. I added to the batter and coating.
Baking Soda & Baking Powder: These two are used to lift the volume of batter, creating a fluffy cake.
Butter: I use unsalted butter, softened in the cake batter, and to coat the exterior of the cake, I use melted butter combined with cinnamon sugar. I use the butter to get into all the nooks and crannies of the bundt pan, but you can also use baking spray. I coated the pan with flour for an easy release!
Eggs: Make sure your eggs are at room temperature!
Salt: a pinch of salt to balance and deepen the flavor.
Sugar: This apple cider bundt cake recipe uses a combination of Brown Sugar and Cane Sugar. The brown sugar will enhance the flavor of your cake, while the cane sugar will serve as the perfect cinnamon sugar coating on the exterior!
Spices: This is a versatile cake. You can add your favorite spices. I kept it simple with ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg. I wanted the homemade apple cider to be the start of the flavors, as it’s packed with apples, oranges, and spices. Really good, I should say!
Vanilla extract: to add more flavor
HOW TO MAKE THIS APPLE CIDER BUNDT CAKE:
STEP 1: PREPARE THE CAKE:
In a large bowl, sift in the flour and then add brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until everything is combined.
In a medium bowl whisk together apple cider, applesauce, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
Gradually stir the wet mixture into the flour mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing. Overmixing your batter can produce a tough and dry cake.
Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a bundt pan with non-stick spray, or spread some butter as I do, and then dust with flour.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool for 15 minutes, then turn it out onto a cooling rack. I place a piece of Parchment Paper (Baking Sheets) to prevent a mess when coating the cake.
Once the cake has slightly cooled (about 30 minutes), proceed to make the coating and topping.
STEP 2: PREPARE THE COATING AND CINNAMON-SUGAR TOPPING
In a small cup or mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and apple cider. In another bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar. Brush the butter and apple cider mixture over the entire cake with a pastry brush. Let it set for just a minute.
Then, sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar combination, pressing it into every inch of the cake. It’s the perfect final touch.
You can use other baking pans to make this cake. However, I like the bundt or tube pan, because of the hole in the center to resemble a huge donut!
This Apple Cider Bundt Cake is not only super easy, it’s moist, tender and loaded with delicious apple flavor. I hope you enjoy this cake as much as we do. Happy Baking!
