These chicken thighs are sweet, sticky, and savory, making them a mouthwatering and satisfying meal. Chicken thighs are one of my favorite proteins to cook with because they are versatile, flavorful, and always juicy no matter how you prepare them. I have shared a couple of chicken thigh recipes like this HONEY GARLIC GLAZED CHICKEN and this YOGURT-MARINATED ROASTED CHICKEN RECIPE

Marinade & Glaze

The glaze is made from freshly squeezed orange juice, lemon, lemon zest, honey, onion, and sweet peppers. The honey-orange glaze is both sweet and tangy, with big and bold spices like paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper that create an explosion of flavors that’s hard to resist.

Easy-Marinade-for-ChickenThis recipe involves two steps. First, marinate the chicken in half of the mixture for 30 minutes.

The sweetness of the honey is perfectly balanced with the tanginess of the orange, creating a harmonious flavor profile that is both delicious and satisfying. The spices used in the glaze are carefully chosen and expertly blended, adding a rich and robust flavor to the dish. Overall, the honey orange glaze is a perfect complement to any meal that is sure to leave your taste buds wanting more.

I made this meal with chicken thighs but you can use chicken breasts if you would like. The chicken is so tender and juicy and this meal was perfectly served over Creamy Mashed Potatoes with the glaze drizzled on top. My family loved this meal and I know that you will too!

Ingredients

  • 5-8 boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon oil I use avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

For the marinade:

  • 1 red onion finely chopped
  • 2-3 small sweet peppers or any peppers of your preference chopped
  • bunch of parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 oranges
  • 8 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  • Start by finely chopping onion and peppers. Place them in a mixing bowl and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of paprika, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Squeeze the juice of one lemon and three oranges and pour it into the mixture. Stir everything together well.
  • Divide the mixture into two parts. One part is for marinating the chicken. Place the chicken thighs in the mixture, cover it, and put it in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 20 to 30 minutes. For the other part of the mixture, add honey and set it aside.
  • Once the chicken has marinated, it's time to sear and cook it. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add oil (I use avocado oil) and unsalted butter. Place the marinated chicken thighs (just chicken) in the skillet and sear it for 3-4 minutes per side or until it turns golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining marinated chicken. Cook it for 2 minutes, then return the other chicken to the skillet. Add the marinade with honey and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the marinade has thickened into a delicious glaze.
  • Serve and enjoy!
