TIPS:

  • How to Safely Thaw Frozen Shrimp: Fill a large bowl with cold water. Remove the frozen shrimp from their packaging, and seal them in a zip-top bag. Submerge the bag in the cold water, placing a plate or lid over it to ensure it remains fully submerged. Let sit for 20 to 30 minutes, until the shrimp are fully thawed.
  • You can use fresh shrimp, or frozen shrimp that have been thawed. Be sure to pat thawed shrimp dry before use.

  • If you prefer a spicy dish, feel free to add some red pepper flakes.

HOW TO MAKE GARLIC BUTTER SHRIMP

STEP 1

Safely thaw the frozen shrimps and pat dry.

STEP 2
In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil and butter. Then, sauté the garlic and onion for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and the onion becomes translucent.

STEP 3
Next, add shrimp and season with black pepper, paprika, salt, and lemon zest.

STEP 4
Squeeze half of a lemon, add a little more butter ( optional) add fresh parsley and stir to combine. Cook the shrimp just until they turn pink and opaque, which typically takes 2–5 minutes per side, depending on their size. I’m using large, raw shrimp. I cooked them for about 4-5 minutes.

Remember that they will continue to cook slightly after being removed from the heat, so it’s better to slightly undercook them than to overcook them.
